I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been busy with so many things, I only contribute to social media when I have the time as I’d rather be doing the work.
Immediately after filming the movie I got booked to do a week of stand up in San Antonio.
And my personal training business has been growing a lot.
If that wasn’t enough, I rescued a dog from being euthanized. It ended up sending my dog to the vet twice. Between that, the vet bills and visits, and trying to get him adopted… I’ve been very distracted.
Am I receiving these distractions out of bad luck, or am I subconsciously seeking them to resist finishing my movie?
Instead of filming more I’ve just been editing what I already have. Seeing if that gives me a better idea of how to film the rest of the movie.
Glad to be almost done with the movie. It’s actually happening.
I filmed so much in so little time, that’s something you can only do when you have deadlines.
I had 2 actors here that would only be around for a week, and shot pretty much all of their scenes within that time.
Now did things go wrong? Of course. Did good surprises happen as well? Yes.
What did I learn? Nothing I could really plan for really. I would’ve had some of the 1st time actors improv more. They seem to come more real that way. Sometimes my dialogue just doesn’t fit their rhythm or cadence, no matter how similar it seems.
The actors did great, and was happy to have so many people volunteer on crew.
Never go without headphones. Didn’t realize until late into a shoot that the volunteer sound mixer didn’t have the mic setting correct.
But the whole idea of this is to learn. I want to make the best movie I can but I’m going to make mistakes.
I’m almost done editing all of my footage. I definitely need to work on getting some more master shots, getting some simple lighting rigs just for a little extra light. Other than that, it’s looking really good.
The worse I do filming, the better it makes me as an editor.
I plan on filming the rest soon. I haven’t filmed since that week, so I’m ready to finish the film and slay the dragon. Resistance is at it’s strongest toward the end.
